My name is Tesni Freed. I am a writer and editor with a passion for prose, enthusiasm for digital marketing, and a desire to contribute to the success of businesses, nonprofits, publications, and individuals in New England and beyond.
With an undergraduate degree from Geneva College and more than six years of administrative experience, I received my Master of Arts in Professional Writing from New England College in March 2015. This extensive program supplemented my occupational skills with coursework in rhetoric, research, editing, creative nonfiction, the new media, business communication, and public relations. As a result, I have an engaging perspective and portfolio to offer those who need writing and editing support.
I especially like partnering with small businesses and organizations to develop marketing initiatives, create brief yet effective compositions, and edit documents in progress. Additionally, I desire to share my love for writing with others by extending services to area professionals and nearby high school, college, or graduate students. Whether projects are local or remote, I apply my strong work ethic and attention to detail. I pride myself on maintaining professionalism and integrity — no matter the task at hand.
Because of my diverse interests and dedication to assisting others, I developed a thesis project that investigates domestic adoption issues. Children in Waiting: The Family Unit, the Foster Care System, and Modern Domestic Adoption is a book that contributes to the existing online conversation among potential adoptive or foster parents. Though I have no training in this area, I hope to make a difference with my reflections on research and with the stories adults who are involved in adoption and foster care.
When I take breaks from writing and editing, I endeavor to make family, friends, and community my priority. I also savor the rich history and diverse landscapes of New England. During quiet moments, I often walk outside, browse eclectic shops, enjoy music, or sip a specialty coffee.
“Tesni exudes passion, professionalism, and knowledge in her writing and working with others. It was delightful and inspiring to work with her throughout the program at New England College. It’s hard to believe that she is so polished in the craft at this stage in her career. Few young professionals can boast the same.” — Lisa Jahn, classmate and colleague
